International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley announces its dates for June, 2018. Now is the time to get it on your calendar! The Holiday Season sweeps in soon; your visions of sugar plums, candied yams, turkey, pies…may take your attention away from planning the Greatest Possible Dance Adventure: IDF@SV Season 7.

Workshops, classes, performance opportunities are available for advanced/professional dancers, for those who want to try a class or two, & for beginners.

Remember: a great ballerina may still be a beginner at tap dance. She could take Audreyanne Covarrubias’ tap class and have the most amazing time.

Choreography workshop, technique workshops, Physical Comedy, and the Full Day of Dance©; all this AND performances by the gifted artists who will bring the best in dance to our ever growing audience. Don’t miss this!

Sunday, June 10, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Physical Comedy with Megan Ivey--she’s the professional clown from Ringling Bros. This is more fun than anyone can describe. Fall down, spit water, walk into walls–see what I mean? You have to be there.

Choreo-Cubator© Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, June 12, 14, 15, 19, 21, 22, from 6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. Supportive atmosphere, chance to work on something new or polish a work in progress. Perform your work on June 22  (performance not required).

IDF@SV 2017 Workshop News! SAVE THE DATES!

Fantastic news! Workshops for IDF@SV announced: Save the Dates! Elisabeth Kindler-Abali, Visiting Artist from Berlin, Germany, will teach Contemporary Technique & Repertory for interm – adv/professional dancers, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., June 26, 27, & 30, in addition to a 60 minute, mixed level class during the Full Day of Dance©, June 24. Don’t miss the opportunity to work with her; she will return to Berlin shortly after premiering her new work in the Festival Concert, July 1.

Megan Ivey, professional clown trained by world famous Ringling Bros., offers her PHYSICAL COMEDY workshop for adults and young people 10 years old and over, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25. This is more fun than you can imagine, and you will learn skills that enrich your life: Learn how to walk into walls! Fall down funny! Slap and be slapped! (Come with a pal, child, complete stranger; second person in for half price.) No joke. This class is essential for ALL performers Shakespeareans, method actors, serious contemporary dancers, tappers. Laugh and the world laughs with you; cry and you cry alone. Get comfortable onstage & in your body.

CHOREO-CUBATOR© is your opportunity to work in improvisation and to develop new choreography or polish a work in progress. It offers space & time & supportive atmosphere. Choreo-Cubator© meets June 20, 22, 23, 27, 29, 30 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Participants perform their work for the public in the Showcase Performance, Friday, June 30. Performance not required. ALL types of dance are welcome.

ALL dance styles are welcome. Choreo-Cubator© is a unique opportunity for dancers who want to explore, experiment, engage their movement imagination. PLEASE NOTE: Choreo-Cubator© begins its working sessions during the week before the rest of IDF@SV. Meetings: are 6-7:15 p.m.,Aug. 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12. Showcase performance: Friday, Aug. 12, 6-7:15 p.m. You can participate in the Choreo-Cubator© even if you choose not to perform. The Showcase performance is open to the public. Choreographers have a chance to talk with their audience about their work. This, like Full Day of Dance© is a one of a kind invention of IDF@SV giving everyone an opportunity to stretch their creativity.

There are performance opportunities for experienced dancers, a chance to create your own dance and perform it, opportunities to try a dance style you’ve never tried before or even to try dancing if you’ve never tried it before. Our Festival Concert features exquisite dances by artists of classical Indian Bharatanatyam and Kathak, Tap Dance by Audreyanne Covarrubias & Megan Ivey, Contemporary ballet by Leslie Friedman, and a chance to join Etta Walton in her Electric Line Dances. The Festival welcomes advanced & professional dancers AND complete beginners, ages from mid-teens to any adult age. FABULOUS FESTIVAL 2015 HUGE SUCCESS

Where did the time go?! The International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley 2015 was an amazing joy ride of dance energy. The dancers put their hearts into learning new choreography and creating new dances. Three performances: the Festival Preview Salsa, the Choreo-cubator© Showcase, and the crowning glory of the Festival Concert. Seven Master Classes on the Full Day of Dance© and intensive workshops through the week in Choreography, Classical Chinese, Contemporary, Dunham, and Salsa. BeingACatIDF@SV, 2015,Scholarship application form is below. Deadline for us to receive your application is June 30, 2015. That will give us time to review your information and reply. There are full and partial scholarships. Festival Dates: M2F© workshops: 8/10-8/14; Full Day of Dance© 8/15; Festival Concert: 8/16.

ADDITIONAL AID is available in the form of:

1)  FREE Home Stays in the charming, residential neighborhood near our center. Within walking distance for all classes and rehearsals.                                                                                                          2)  FRIENDLY FRIEND FEE: bring a friend with you and both of you receive a discounted rate              3)  EARLY BIRD FEE:  You will still have time to apply with the Early Bird fee, another big discount. So, if you receive a partial scholarship, you can save more by getting the Early Bird rate, too.
